On August 5, this year, Microsoft had announced of expanding the Redmond software giant's Elevate America Veterans initiative by partnering with the U.S. Department of Labor to distribute 10,000 technology training and certification packages to veterans.

Microsoft said it was backing a jobs for American vets effort with $2 million in cash and up to $6 million in software and training to help U.S. military veterans get IT training.

Obama has challenged companies to hire 100,000 military vets or their spouses.

Now, it appears, Google is joining its tech rival Microsoft in ramping up an initiative to help returning war veterans.

The Obama administration has decided to withdraw all U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of the year after failing to reach an agreement with the Iraqi government that would have left several thousand troops there for special operations and training.

On October 21, the President Obama announced plans to withdraw all U.S. forces from Iraq by the end of the year, ending a long war that deeply divided the country over its origins and the American lives it consumed -- Google "registered a half dozen domain names related to 'Google for Veterans'."

"The rest of our troops in Iraq will come home," Obama said Friday at the White House, adding that they will "be home for the holidays."

"After nearly nine years, America's war in Iraq will be over," he said.

"The domain names including googleforveterans.com, googleveterans.com, and googleforvets.com, according to Fusible, which closely watches new domain name registrations," reports Fusible.
