HTC has launched HTC Sensation XL Android smartphone. Bearing the red logo of Dr. Dre's Beats brand 4.7-inch Sensation XL coming with a set of either Ur Beats in-ear headphones or Solo over-the-ear cans, the XL makes an unequivocal play for the discerning music and multimedia lovers out there.

Like the Windows Phone 7.5 HTC Titan's, the Sensation XL has a single-core 1.5GHz Snapdragon MSM8255 processor. The same 8MP camera with twin-LED flash sits on the back, capable of 720p recording, also with a 1.3MP unit up front, and the same 4.7″ display has an identical WVGA (480x800px) resolution.

The XL gets 768MB of RAM, compared with 512MB for its Windows Phone cousin, but both share a fixed amount of 16GB of embedded storage. Curiously, for an Android handset, there's no microSD expansion slot.

The rear case is also similarly constructed, with an aluminum shell framed by a pair of plastic inserts, however the Sensation XL opts for a snowy white aesthetic instead of the Titan's dark grey palette.

The XL runs Android 2.3.5, along with HTC's latest version (3.5) of its Sense user experience, and comes preloaded with the Dropbox app for Android.

HTC recently clinched a deal with the cloud storage provider to offer its new customers 5GB of free storage instead of the usual 2GB -- a courtesy which will be rolled out on all new Sense 3.5 phones.

Though, HTC is aiming to release the Sensation XL across Europe and Asia in early November -- pricing and launch dates haven't yet been finalized.
