Twitter has now enabled the SSL support for the Tweet and Follow Button widgets.

"That means that now you can add these widgets to your secure https pages, enabling users to easily share your content and follow your accounts without leaving your site," said Twitter in a blog post.

If you are using the Tweet and Follow button widgets for the first time, you can get started here.

"If you are already using these widgets and need support for https, all you will need to do is ensure that you are loading widgets.js as shown below," stated Twitter.

Using the // prefix will automatically detect the protocol of your page, and load the widgets appropriately over http or https.
