After HP's announcement of the abandoning of webOS devision and the closure of Pc business -- the company put the HP TouchPad on fire on sale for the ludicrously cheap price of $100 a unit, which prompted a "28% increase in visits to the HP website between the week ending 20 August and the week ending 27 August," revealed Experian Hitwise.

Hitwise said that demand for TouchPads resulted in a ten-fold increase in HP's market share of UK searches for tablets. As a result Apple lost its position as the number one tablet manufacturer for the first time ever.

HP accounted 66% of all tablet searches during the week ending 27 August 2011. Apple dropped from 71% of all tablet searches in the previous week, to just 25% of all tablet searches," reports Hitwise.

Hitwise created a word cloud of the top TouchPad searches in the last 12 weeks, you can see in the word cloud that a lot of the searches are related to retailers which sell the TouchPad, and stock levels in the UK, hence 'hp touchpad in stock' and 'hp touchpad uk stock' being among the most popular search terms.
