Apple has released Mac OS X 10.7.1 update recommended for all users running OS X Lion and that includes general operating system fixes that enhance the stability and compatibility of your Mac, addresses a few other issues including the Wifi issues, and it also appears to incorporate the recent Migration Assistant update.

Fixes includes:

  • Address an issue that may cause the system to become unresponsive when playing a video in Safari
  • Resolve an issue that may cause system audio to stop working when using HDMI or optical audio out
  • Improve the reliability of Wi-Fi connections
  • Resolve an issue that prevents transfer of your data, settings, and compatible applications to a new Mac running OS X Lion
  • Resolve an issue where MacBook Air may boot up when MagSafe Adapter is attached
  • Resolve an issue causing intermittent display flickering on MacBook Air
  • Resolve an issue that causes the SD card slot in Mac mini to run at reduced speed with SD and SDHC media

It is available via Software Update and weighs in at a paltry 17.4MB on rig.

Updating your system

Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for the latest Apple software via the Internet, including this update.

Other software updates available for your computer may appear, which you should install. When Software Updates states "Your software is up to date," you can be sure that all available updates have been installed.

Note that an update's size may vary from computer-to-computer when installed using Software Update. Also, some updates must be installed prior to others, so you should run Software Update more than once to make sure you have all available updates.

You can manually download the update installer. This is a useful option when you need to update multiple computers but only want to download the update once. These versions of the standalone installers are available from Apple Support Downloads.
