GTVHackers has released an unofficial Android 3.1 Honeycomb Android OS upgrade beta built specifically for the Logitech Revue Google TV device.

There is a catch though, the update could ruin your device and you might not be able to revert to the official OS. The update is a beta offering and is not ready for the general public.

TechCrunch says that they have installed the beta OS and not much has changed. Apparently, the media player reportedly supports more formats and the update does apparently break Netflix. Netflix is one of the star features of the box so that might be a deal breaker for some folks. The update does allow the installation of apps from the Android Market though so Angry Birds might offset the loss of Netflix a bit.

This is BETA, it is not meant to be widely used and has bugs. If that's something you don't care about and would like to risk it anyway, install the update. Also, If you want to help Logitech and Google out buy another Revue ( preferably from logitech.com ), at $99 its worth every penny.

You can download the update here and instructions are here.
