Late last month, diTii.com reported that Microsoft's Games For Windows store front is moving to Xbox.com with Games for Windows Marketplace, followed by last week's official announcement of the transition. Today, the Redmond company is giving folks an incentive to try out the new Xbox.com PC game download store.
The web site has announced a special promotion that will see Microsoft give away a total of 1 million of its in-house Microsoft points.
Games for Windows has joined Xbox.com with Games for Windows Marketplace, and we're celebrating by giving away a million Microsoft Points!*
Just make a Games for Windows online purchase between July 25 and August 1 to receive an e-mail code for 400 Microsoft Points," read the website.
The promotion begins today and ends on August 1 and is limited to the first 2,500 people who purchase a PC game on the site. The e-coupon will be sent to the user in about 4 to 6 weeks. The 400 Microsoft points must be used by June 30, 2012.
PC gamers can use Microsoft points to download and purchase DLC items in Games For Windows Live titles and if they also own an Xbox 360, they can use the points to download full Xbox Live Arcade games, DLC items for retail games, movie rental/purchases and more for the console.
The points can also be used for Zune downloadable items; 400 Microsoft points is the equivalent to $5.
