On July 20, Microsoft for IT professionals leveraging Microsoft's automated solution for update distribution based on Windows Server published an updated Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) 3.0 Service Pack 2 (SP2).

"The refresh documentation comes with no less than five of the guides posted on TechNet feature updated content, with the software giant introducing changes to the documentation offered for WSUS deployment, operations, migration, usage and the technical reference."

With the release of Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP2, WSUS embraced the latest release of Windows Server, namely Windows Server 2008 R2, including support for features such as BranchCache.

"Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) enables information technology administrators to deploy the latest Microsoft product updates to computers that are running the Windows operating system. By using WSUS, administrators can fully manage the distribution of updates that are released through Microsoft Update to computers in their network," Microsoft revealed.

Those IT admins that have yet to deploy but are gearing up to do so, will undoubtedly find the "Windows Server Update Services 3.0 SP2 Deployment Guide" very useful. This guide is one of the resources recently updated by Microsoft.
