Shine, Yahoo!'s popular women's lifestyle site, has launched a new content feature called "Power Your Future" with an ambitious goal---inspiring readers to take action and make a positive difference in the world.
"Power Your Future complements How Good Grows, Yahoo!'s social responsibility site that is also geared to motivating readers to get involved. The new feature is also backed by Yahoo! Finance and Fortune's Most Powerful Women program. It's fully sponsored by the University of Phoenix," informs Yahoo.
"The inspiration comes from Power Your Future's personal stories of real women who are making a difference, including Gina Drosos, the president of Proctor and Gamble and a single welfare mom who built a million-dollar business in her garage," Yahoo said.
What inspired the feature itself?
It was the realization that many women want to make a positive impact in the world, but feel they don't have the time to do it, said Elisa Steele, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Yahoo!. Through its stories, Power Your Future aims to help women find specific ways that they can help. "Many of our articles and videos will include a related call-to-action that makes it easy for people to do something good in their own lives by volunteering, donating or spreading the word," says Elisa. "We'll show how all our actions add up to something bigger, and how many people are out there are getting involved."
