The iPhone 5 is supposedly handed over to select beta testers AT&T on July 6th. The testers have been given a dummy version of the iPhone 5 so that they can run the tests.
According to Devicemag, "the beta testers are currently running tests on signal reception, connectivity and plenty others." As soon as the beta testing is over, Apple can give orders to the parts-suppliers and begin manufacturing and shipping.
As you can in the images (above and after below), the unit appears identical to the iPhone 4. The software running on the device is akin to the iPhone test software that we have seen many times before on test units.
The next generation iPhone device is supposed to sport a dual-core processor with iOS 5, larger screen, thinner design and possibly greater storage.
With this news about Apple handing over the iPhone to testers, it maybe that the Cupertion company is planning for a release soon. If that's the case, we can hope that Apple's September Music Event might get nudged further up the calendar for the iPhone 5 to make an entry.
