Are you using these easy to use building blocks called Phidgets?

So, what are Phidgets? “Phidgets are a set of "plug and play" building blocks for low cost USB sensing and control from your PC. All the USB complexity is taken care of by our robust API. Applications can be developed quickly by programmers using their favorite language: C/C++, C#, Cocoa, Delphi, Flash AS3, Flex AS3, Java, LabVIEW, MATLAB, Max/MSP, MRS, Python, REALBasic, Visual Basic.NET, Visual Basic 6.0, Visual Basic for Applications, Visual Basic Script, and Visual C/C++/Borland.NET,” explains Phidgets team.

These modules are very useful to prototype solutions and sometimes build solutions.

Sam Phung from the Embedded101.com community has been working on an Phidgets SDK dubbed “Windows CE Driver for Phidgets” for Windows Embedded Compact 7.

“Windows CE Driver for Phidgets is a kernel driver to allow libraries and applications access to USB Phidgets on Windows CE. Most apps will program against a higher level library called phidget21, rather then accessing the kernel driver directly. The standard Phidget APIs are provided by this higher level library. phidget21 source code is closed source. If you want to add the phidget21 binaries to your platform, extract them from the processor appropriate .CAB file,” reads the description of the project.

The libraries have been tested on x86 boards for now.
