Yahoo! announced a global partnership with MediaTek, one of the world's largest mobile chipset makers.

"This partnership allows us to pre-load popular Yahoo! products directly on the handset, including Yahoo! Messenger, News, Finance, Weather, Mail, Flickr, Answers and more, using MediaTek's application ecosystem," Yahoo! stated. Additionally, MediaTek has already expressed an interest in rapidly extending their distribution coverage to other emerging markets worldwide giving Yahoo! the opportunity to reach an even broader mobile audience.

"We'll be able to reach tremendous scale across potentially millions of devices by focusing our resources to build best-in-class experiences as well as leveraging MediaTeK development resources by providing them access to our APIs. This partnership between MediaTek and Yahoo! will make it more convenient for handset manufacturers to accelerate their speed to market and reduce the cost of deploying Yahoo! services," added Yahoo!.

Finally, "the partnership complements MediaTek's current collaboration with Yahoo!'s Connected TV group, which has embedded the Yahoo! Connected TV software platform onto MediaTek's digital television chipsets," said Yahoo!.
