Microsoft has a new BI (business intelligence) Labs, which was quietly opened its virtual doors in April. The lab is a place for Microsoft developers to explore and develop technologies and concepts before (maybe) bringing them to market. Customers can download prototypes to test out, though there's no time guarantee on their availability. The site currently has several products to try and Microsoft said more will be popping up soon.

The various technologies there're all downloadable by anyone who'd like to kick their tires. The BI Labs technologies were developed by various teams around the company. The current technologies being showcased include:

According to an introductory video embedded below, Microsoft’s BI Labs plan to make available more prototypes and grassroots projects for download. These aren't Microsoft-supported products and may or mayn't ever become parts of shipping Microsoft business-intelligence-focused products.
