AMD has announced a new Radeon HD 6000 Series line-up of GPUs -- the Radeon HD 6790.

AMD introduces this GPU to cater to gamers and PC enthusiasts who are looking for great performance but want to spend $150 or less. The Radeon HD 6970 will run about $149 MSRP and is designed with "HD gaming" -- gaming at HD resolutions -- in mind.

The GPU is optimized for running games at a 1080p (1920x1080). It also supports Eyefinity for the use of multiple displays (total number of displays depends on partner). And of course it brings in DirectX 11 with Windows 7. It has a clock speed of 840 MHz and 1GB of GDDR5 memory.

If you are a gamer running an older Radeon GPU -- this card should definitely be looked at if you are looking to upgrade!
