Microsoft has released a special tool, preventing users from fiddling with their hard disk space and/or hard-resetting their phone. If you do have the errors mentioned under, head to Microsoft support to grab the special tool and get 'er fixed already.

The tool as of today, supports two "specific" error codes that some users have been getting;

800705B4: The timer ran out on what we were trying to do.
80180080: We couldn't update your phone because your operating system might be corrupt.

The latter specifically fixes an issue where the phone displays a black "Connect to PC" logo because the update failed part of the way through. The tool stops end users from having to figure out what the issues are -- be it with hard drive space, or resetting their phones. Jump on over to Microsoft support for the download now.

In a releated news, Chris Walsh, has discovered a way to update any phone running Windows Phone 7 to any version of the software that's publicaly released by Microsoft. The tool helps get around waiting for carriers, and allows those with any device to update, even if tied to a carrier such as AT&T (who're still "testing" both the February and March updates). The tool allows you to flash any update, provided it has been made available by Microsoft, and allows the user to update any device, no matter what the carrier is.

According to Chris, "Make sure you select the RIGHT language for your device. To double check what your default language is, go to Settings > Keyboard and if your selected language is displayed in the Console app, you're good to select it. If it isn't in the list, DON'T flash it just yet.

Now, download following files:

Windows Phone Support Tools: [x86 ChevronWP7.Updater] | [x64 ChevronWP7.Updater]

Once you've installed the support tools and extracted ChevronWP7.Updater.zip to the desktop, plug your phone in and wait 30 seconds.

Now start ChevronWP7.Updater.exe (this should kill Zune) and follow the prompts.

If you're updating from Version 7004, you need to run the Updater TWICE, this needs the preUpdate before we can flash NoDo. Again, if your language isn't in the Chevron updater, DON'T attempt to update your phone. Some of the applications won't work otherwise."
