A new Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM has leaked out for the Euro version of the Samsung Galaxy S (I9000). It's not actually being pushed out just yet, but reportedly it's what you'll get if your phone gets sent in for warranty work.

The lack of the Gingerbread version of Android on the many different versions of Samsung's Galaxy S smartphone has been the source of much consternation for owners the world over. With Android's fragmentation problem, along with Samsung's apparent inability to get updates to carriers it's all becoming a bit of a farce. Now though, assuming you're using a European I9000 handset you can take matters into your own hands.

Unfortunately however, if you're one of the many US owners of one of the umpteen variations on the Galaxy S design then you're still out of luck. As things stand you'll be left waiting for the official release via your chosen carrier, whether that be Gingerbread or FroYo for those still not deemed worthy by Samsung.
