According to Microsoft, Windows 7 "0x0000007F" have been reported on computers with antivirus software installed.

"Consider the following scenario: you run an active antivirus application on a computer that is running Windows 7. You restart the computer. In this scenario, you may receive a Stop error message that resembles the following: STOP: 0x0000007F (0x0000008, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4) UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

This issue occurs after you install certain updates on the computer. The parameters that are after the "0x0000008" parameter in this Stop error message vary, depending on the configuration of the computer," the company said in KB2502285.

"This issue occurs because both the operating system and the antivirus application read from the same files in the startup process of the operating system. Therefore, kernel stack memory may be exhausted, and you receive the Stop error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section," explains Microsoft.

Note After you install an update that updates certain system files on the computer, the operating system tries to verify the digital signatures on all new files.

To apply this update, you must be running Windows 7. You must restart the computer after you apply this update. This update does not replace a previously released update.
