This blog post describes "How do I pair my Bluetooth-enabled wireless headset with my BlackBerry smartphone?"
Before we begin, you'll want to have a copy of the product documentation that came with your Bluetooth-enabled device. This info is very important as it contains instructions on how to put your Bluetooth-enabled device into pairing mode. If you're using a BlackBerry product such as the BlackBerry Wireless Headset HS-500, you can find the product documentation for it at the BlackBerry Documentation website or by visiting the BlackBerry Wireless Headset HS-500 User Guide.
"Pairing mode allows a Bluetooth-enabled device to accept a new connection from another Bluetooth-enabled device, such as your BlackBerry smartphone. In order to pair two Bluetooth-enabled devices, one of them must be placed into pairing mode while the other device searches for it. Once the initial connection is made during the pairing process, you'll be prompted to accept the connection between the two Bluetooth-enabled devices. You then have option to trust the connection, which'll allow the two Bluetooth devices to communicate with one another without the need to accept the connection request each time."
The following example pair BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone with a BlackBerry Wireless Headset HS-500.
- If the headset is not in pairing mode, press and hold the Call control key for 5 seconds or until the LED flashes blue and red.
- On your BlackBerry device, on the Home screen, click the Manage Connections icon.
- Click Set Up Bluetooth.
- Click Search.
- Click BlackBerry HS-500.
- Type the passkey 0000.
- Press the Enter key.
After completing the steps above, a message will appear confirming that BlackBerry smartphone is now paired with BlackBerry Wireless Headset HS-500! Now the calls can be transfer to and from the headset while using BlackBerry smartphone in addition to receiving driving directions from any third-party location-based apps.
