Microsoft has denied that it's working on an update that would quadruple the accuracy of its Kinect motion controller.

"We're constantly working to expand and improve on experiences for Xbox 360 and Xbox LIVE, however, this rumor is completely unsubstantiated," a Microsoft spokesperson said in a statement. "We couldn't be more pleased with the fidelity of the technology and clearly consumers agree given we sold more than 2.5 million units around the world in the first 25 days Kinect was on the market."

Microsoft has of course denied rumors in the past only to turn around and deliver on them anyway. Still, the company specifically said this one is "completely unsubstantiated." In either case, the software giant is definitely planning on improving the Kinect via software updates. Whether this particular quadrupling will occur or not, Microsoft definitely doesn't want customers waiting for it instead of buying the accessory as soon as possible.
