Facebook recently added facial recognition technology to their service which could win an award for the biggest timesaver of the year feature given more than 100 million tags are added to photos each day on Facebook. But, Microsoft Windows Live Photo Gallery alread has this technology.

"Here's how it works in Live Photo Gallery: Basically you tag one photo of a person and then ask the program to start a batch tag. It searches all of the photos in your collection and comes back with suggestions for all of the other photos you've of that person, giving you the option as shown below to tag each photo.

It's 99% correct and often the program returns 20 or more photos that are perfect matches -- top tip, click Ctrl + Alt to select all of them and then choose the confirm button.

Well once you're done you can start to view photos by person instead of sifting through different folders."
