Windows Internal Database (WYukon SQL Server SP4) And Feature Pack for SQL Server 2005 SP4 Available for Download

Last week, Microsoft released the SQL Server 2005 SP4 to manufacturing, and provided a range of additional downloads. The Feature Pack for SQL Server 2005 SP4 is one example, with the Windows Internal Database also getting an update, "Customers running WYukon can grab both the "Update for Windows Internal Database (WYukon SQL Server SP4 x86)" for x64 / x86 Microsoft Download Center (linked below)."

"WID is a relational data store for Windows roles and features only, such as Windows SharePoint Services and Windows Server Update Services. This update upgrades WID used by Windows components such as WSPS and WSUS."

According to the Redmond company, WID updates can only be deployed on Windows Server 2003.

Here're the steps that IT professionals need to take:

  • For new install of WID when it doesn't exist already: msiexec /i SSEE_10.msi CALLERID=OCSetup.exe /qn REBOOT=ReallySupress /l*v [logfilepath]
  • To upgrade existing lower version of WID: msiexec /i SSEE_10.msi CALLERID=OCSetup.exe REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus /qn REBOOT=ReallySupress /l*v [logfile]
  • To completely uninstall WID: start /wait msiexec /x {BDD79957-5801-4A2D-B09E-852E7FA64D01} CALLERID=OCSetup.exe /qn REBOOT=ReallySupress /l*v [logfile]
