Microsoft's Kinect team is said to be working "very hard" on a switching or compression technology that will allow a greater amount of data to pass through Kinect to Xbox 360 console. The accuracy of Xbox 360 motion-sensing add-on Kinect so that it could detect finger movement and hand rotation.


The video above demos a small test for kinect TUIO implementation. it uses the fingertip tracking technique. Each fingertip is tracked and mapped to a TUIO cursor. for testing and some nice effects "TUIO / OSC Smoke Demo" is used.

The depth sensor used by Kinect is also dictated by firmware -- it's currently set at a 30 frames per second limit and a 320x240 resolution limit. At a 640x480 resolution, however, Kinect could begin to detect fingers and hand rotation -- an effective quadrupling of its accuracy.

The reason for this is that the USB interface currently uses just 16MB/s of throughput when Kinect is attached to console, despite being capable of around 35MB/s. The reason for this is due to Xbox 360 allowing multiple USB devices to be connected at one time, slowing down other peripherals.
