Microsoft Exchange Web Services Managed API 1.1 provides a managed interface for developing client apps that use Exchange Web Services. EWS Managed API simplifies the implementation of apps that communicate with Exchange Server 2007 SP and later versions of Exchange. Built on Exchange Web Services SOAP protocol and Autodiscover, EWS Managed API provides a .NET interface to EWS that is easy to learn, use, and maintain.

EWS Managed API 1.1 exposes following features that were introduced in Exchange 2010 SP1:

  • Archive mailbox - Access to archive folders and items. Everything you can do with mailbox items and folders is available for your archived information. Equal access for all items and folders!
  • Conversations - Emails are social and so is your app, so try the new Conversations feature exposed by EWS to easily manage email conversations.
  • Inbox Rules - Would you like to tell your Exchange server where to store it (emails)? Server-side Inbox rules are now available as a programmatic interface for your Exchange client apps. For more information, see Working with Inbox Rules.
  • Streaming Notifications - Want your cake and eat it too? Now you can with streaming notifications. Streaming notifications provide you with the benefits of both push and pull event notification models.
