"Daily newspapers around the country are finding new ways to connect online, real-time news content with their physical newspapers through the use of a new type of barcode called Microsoft Tag," informs Microsoft.

"Tags allow readers to access dynamic content through the printed newspaper while offering editors the ability to augment editorial and advertising content with the endless possibilities of the digital world. It's sort of like having the ability to embed media such as videos into the newspaper. Mobile devices allow you to play the media embedded in the newspaper."
