Microsoft posted an update on the soon-to-be-released Testing Feature Pack (Feature Pack 2). It's another VS 2010 family deliverable that has some totally terrific capabilities!

FPs are only available to customers with proper level of MSDN subscription. The first FP (the modeling one) required a VS Ultimate + MSDN subscription for customers to qualify. This Test FP requires either a VS Ultimate + MSDN, a VS Premium + MSDN subscription or a Test Professional + MSDN subscription.

It's primarily focused on enhancing the testing capabilities in VS Application Lifecycle Management products.

There're 3 major new features coming in this FP:

  • Testing Silverlight Applications let you test Silverlight apps as well as other desktop apps. Also, added support both for coded UI tests and for record and playback in Microsoft Test Runner (part of Microsoft Test Professional).
  • Recorded test playback on FireFox features let you play back web apps recordings done using Visual Studio testing tools on FireFox as well, in addition to IE
  • Coded UI Test Editor makes tweaking and customizing your recorded tests MUCH easier.
