Home Server? Network Attached Storage? There're many names to describe network accessible devices in the home -- add "home network drive" to the list, which's how Western Digital describe their new "My Book Live" drive -- it's a single bay network drive, available in 1 and 2TB capacities, designed as a fast and simple solution for sharing and streaming files around the home, from PC & Mac to DLNA certified media receivers, TVs and so on.

A new WD Photos app, included with the device, will share photos to iOS devices such as the iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad and remote access from a web connected PC or Mac is also thrown in for good measure.

The drive boasts Gigabit Ethernet, a DLNA media server on board, Apple Time Machine compatibility plus WD's own SmartWare backup software for PCs.
