Microsoft's upgrading multi-engine protection in all Forefront server security products to support Kaspersky 8 antivirus engine, that'll provide improved scanning times and reduced signature file size. The new engine replaces older Kaspersky 5 engine, and publishes update files in a subdirectory. In order to accommodate this new publishing model, Microsoft's releasing a series of roll-ups that'll: •Include Kaspersky 8 engine •Ensure that any engine that publishes update files in a subdirectory will update correctly.

Customers must install the rollups by Jan. 31, 2011. If you're not able to install the rollups by this deadline, you should deselect Kaspersky engine to prevent any performance issues that may arise from discontinuation of Kaspersky 5.
