Luke Chung published a few white papers linked below about Access and SQL Azure.
- Microsoft Azure and Cloud Computing...What it Means to Me and Information Workers
- Microsoft Access and Cloud Computing with SQL Azure Databases (Linking to SQL Server Tables in the Cloud)
Here's an excerpt from 2nd paper: "Cloud computing will be a huge benefit to information worker and Access community. Instead of worrying about hardware and deployment issues around apps, one can focus on building solution and using enterprise quality cloud platforms which previously didn't exist or were prohibitively expensive and difficult to use. With Access 2010 and SharePoint 2010, Access apps (in limited form) can be deployed over Internet. With Azure and SQL Azure, one can create .NET apps and/or SQL Server databases in the cloud."
- And the most recent "Introduction to Linking Microsoft Access Databases to SQL Server on Azure," about deploying an Access database once it's linked to SQL Azure. He has also revised his original paper about linking to SQL Azure to clarify that you only need to install SQL Server 2008 R2 Management Services program (SSMS) and not SQL Server itself.
