Toshiba on August 25th announced that "they're working on 3D sets that won't require you to wear glasses. "Many consumers complained that the glasses either ruined the experience or were irritating to wear while watching a movie, television show or event."

Toshiba will unveil three models of the television, which'll cost $7,000, before Christmas, the Yomiuri Shimbun said. The company has developed a new system that emits a number of rays of light with various angles from the screen so that viewers can see stereoscopic images without glasses, the daily said.

"People can enjoy images in three dimensions from various positions and suffer less stress," it said.

The sets will likely be demonstrated at CES2011 in January.
