Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates just tweeted to his 1.3 million followers about his friend Nathan Myhrvold's cookbook for geeks — a massive firehouse of social media exposure guaranteed to put the title on the map. Myhrvold, a former Microsoft CTO who now heads patent firm Intellectual Ventures, is self-publishing his book, called "Modernist Cuisine: The Art and Science of Cooking." The 2,400-page work, scheduled for release in December, details "science-inspired techniques for preparing food." It's no ordinary cookbook, deploying centrifuges and other scientific lab equipment in the kitchen.
Gates and Myhrvold have a long history. They worked together at Microsoft, and were co-authors on the book, "The Road Ahead," published in 1995.
