At the wrap up of Techonomy conference in Lake Tahoe, CA, Bill Gates talked with host Brent Schiender. Here're some quotes from his lengthy talk:

"Latrines are fascinating," Gates said. "We're gonna have a breakthrough in the latrines," he continued. He said that while the flushable toilet is the gold standard, it isn't efficient at all. Someone is going to fix that, according to Gates.

He named few book he's reading on the subject— One was Water and Sanitation. "It's quite lurid," Gates joked. "It's a super-important topic," Gates reiterated. "You can visit poor-world latrines and learn from that as well," Gates joked. (I think Gates refrenced to his recent India trip.)

"Five years from now on the web for free you'll be able to find the best lectures in the world," Gates said. "It'll be better than any single university," he continued.
