Nextstop said that "it's acquired by social-networking giant Facebook." Nextstop is a location-aware company which allowed users to view comments and multimedia about locations around the world. "nextstop will be shutting down on Sep 1, 2010, but we want to make sure that the amazing guides that nextstoppers have created live on. If you're an existing user, you can continue to use nextstop for next two months and export your contributions to Picasa Web Albums, Google Maps, or download a set of PDF or HTML files for your guides using export tools."

Nextstop says all the aggregated data about almost 100,000 places and recommendations it collected will be released under Creative Commons in coming weeks, and that no user information will be shared with Facebook.
