VoicePredict is an applicaton for Windows Mobile 6.5 and earlier versions of Microsoft's mobile platform. The app, from Seattle startup TravellingWave, combines voice-recognition technology and traditional text input to more accurately and quickly predict the words users are entering into the device. In other words, users will speak and type at the same time. The company says the technology can predict words with 90 to 95% accuracy after typing one or two characters. Users will be able to use the app to send text messages, post to Facebook and Twitter, and dial phone numbers. VoicePredict has been available previously in a limited beta, but it's scheduled to debut on Windows Mobile Marketplace, selling for $1.99. It's the first time it’ll be going live as a product. "From that angle, this is really big for us," said Ashwin Rao, TravellingWave's CEO. Microsoft is creating a more consistent set of system requirements for the upcoming Windows Phone 7 platform. Rao says TravellingWave is in the process of deciding which platform to target next -- considering a version of VoicePredict for Windows Phone 7, the iPhone or Google Android.
