Tranquil PC announced a new Mini HTPC model, the T7-MP2 which utilises T7 small footprint, passively cooled chassis as a mini HTPC for the lounge. Powered by dual-core Intel Atom D510, 2GB RAM and NVIDIA ION chipset, it also includes access to UK IPTV channels courtesy of TunerFree MCE. With a noise output of just 17dBA, the T7-MP2 is both small and silent – two great features for a HTPC, which connects to TV courtesy of on board HDMI, DVI or VGA ports. Digital audio (TOSLINK) port is also included. T7-MP2 comes with 500GB storage, which can be swapped out for an SSD drive as an option. Storage expandability comes from 6 rear USB ports and 1 eSATA. At £562 (inc VAT), T7-MP2 is certainly a premium option compared to other ATOM/ION based nettops, such as ASRock ION 330 and Acer’s Aspire Revo, which’re not passively cooled, and use Intel’s previous generation of Atom processors.
