Building on the strength of Windows for PCs and Windows for phones, “we’re upgrading our entire portfolio of platforms & technologies for embedded market with Windows 7 technologies to better serve our partners & customers in embedded space. We’re seeing tremendous demand following initial rollout of Windows Embedded’s Windows 7-based platforms & technologies, including Windows Embedded Standard 7 RC, that accounts 33% higher downloads globally than Embedded Standard 2009 beta. Developers can use same skills & tools they’ve already established with Win7 and Visual Studio to tap into this potentially huge new market. We’re working closely with some early adopters of Embedded Standard 7 and are excited about phenomenal development it enables. With Siemens devices running Embedded OS, we recently demonstrated vision for end-to-end enterprise connectivity through a proof of concept (POC) factory production line — from data collecting sensors & smart devices on factory floors to server-based business intelligence apps in IT datacenters. Another great example that demos benefits of Windows-based platform is digital signage, where we’ve worked with Intel to deliver a platform for retail & hospitality market.
