Microsoft is announcing the availability of Visual Studio 2010 and .NET Framework 4, and 5 major launch events on Apr 12th around the world. “VS2010 provides a great deal of enhancements for developers to make it easier to develop applications including new editor which now uses Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and multiple monitor support. VS2010 represents major investment by Microsoft to provide developers with best tools for developing apps targeting latest Microsoft releases such as Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2, SQL Server 2008, SharePoint. Office, Windows Azure, and Windows Phone 7. For developers who’re developing apps for Win7, VS2010 has built-in support for Win7’s multitouch features (Windows Touch) and “Ribbon” UI. That means developers can easily build apps specifically for Win7 that use multitouch and Ribbon. VS also makes it easy for developers to take advantage of Win7 features such as Jump Lists and Sensor & Location in their apps by providing quick access to libraries and code samples on MSDN.” “.NET Framework 4 adds additional support for industry standards, more language choice, new support for high-performance middle-tier apps including parallel programming, and side-by-side installation with .NET Framework 3.5. With .NET Framework 4 Client Profile, size of runtime has been decreased by over 80%, making it easier for developers to get apps, and therefore users, up & running faster,” notes Microsoft.
