There’s no doubt that Twitter has been a runaway success. Add to their rapid growth, they recently announced @anywhere platform, begin showing 'Most Popular Tweets,' and plans for further international expansion. In a message to developers, Twitter’s Taylor Singletary explains some of what determines a popular tweet: “With this new project, we want to make real-time search even more valuable by surfacing ‘best tweets’ about a particular topic, by considering recency, but also interactions on a tweet. This means analyzing author’s profile, as well as ‘number times’ the tweet has been ‘retweeted, favorited, replied, and more’.
