Members of tech community believe that American surveillance laws need to be modernized for the digital age. Now, a new initiative called Digital Due Process, a coalition of technology companies, civil rights organizations and academics seeking to update ECPA to provide privacy protections to new and emerging technologies is established. As part of Digital Due Process initiative, Microsoft and fellow coalition members're urging Congress to update Electronic Communications Privacy Act to ensure that data individuals store in online, cloud computing services receives same level of privacy protections as data stored on PCs in people’s homes.
