Microsoft announced Windows Phone 7 “Rockstar” Award for Imagine Cup 2010. Contest will require students or student teams to build apps written in Silverlight or XNA for Windows Phone 7 Series tools. Participants must follow criteria: appealing “look and feel” (like User Experience of WP7 shell itself), originality of the app (we’re looking for apps that people may not’ve seen before), “consumer appeal” that this app might possess, and/or leveraging phone specific functionality (like Accelerometer, Location etc.). Contest is live and will end on May 24, 2010. “Of the apps submitted, there’ll be three winning teams, announcing on June 1, 2010. First place winner – Each team member (up to 4 members) of top overall winning team is invited to Poland. Winning team will be awarded USD8000. Second place winner – runner up team will be awarded USD4000. Third place winner– second runner up team will be awarded USD3000. Each member of the winning team will also be awarded a new Windows Phone,” Iyer added.
