This new recruiting video featuring Marc Whitten, Microsoft's Xbox Live GM, he refers to the service repeatedly as "Live," and never as "Xbox Live," with only the Live part of the Xbox Live logo visible behind him. To be clear, it's common for people inside the Xbox team to refer to the gaming and entertainment service as "Live" in casual conversation. In that context, it's not strange to hear. But this is an official Microsoft video, and the Xbox group is more careful than most about branding. As noted by Whitten in the video, Microsoft has spent a lot of time expanding Xbox Live on the Xbox 360 beyond video games to make it a multi-purpose entertainment and communications machine -- with services including Netflix, Facebook, Twitter and Last.fm.
