Microsoft has acquired “Opalis Software,” a Toronto-based private company, leader in IT process automation software. Opalis will become a wholly-owned subsidiary of Microsoft. For Microsoft customers this acquisition provides access to a new set of capabilities to help you automate your processes and tasks in your datacenter environment. Our virtualization stack just became more complete with the capabilities of Opalis. Opalis v6.0 automates integration and orchestration of cloud actions such as: • Cloud Bursting – automate public cloud provisioning to handle peak loads and prevent SLA violations • Cloud Cover – automate failover to public or private clouds • Private Cloud Operation – create and manage service driven, flexible capacity with automation • Sophisticated triggering – subscribe to external events to trigger workflow processes that add, reduce or fail-over to cloud resources according to policies and SLAs.
