If you've ever wanted to search or navigate without disrupting a web page you're currently reading, you would probably open a new tab to do so. This means either clicking "new tab" button, or using "new tab" menu item or keyboard shortcut (ctrl-t). Here’s a little-known shortcut to help you do this even faster: “If you type something in to omnibox and hold down Alt key while you press enter, the resulting page’ll open as a new tab at the end of your tabstrip, leaving your previous page untouched. This way you can skip creating a new tab, and go straight to typing in what you want”.
