Automattic added a new feature to WordPress.com based blog called “email subscriptions,” a way for readers to subscribe blog and receive updates by email ‘each time a post is made, or daily, or weekly digest of all posts’. Anyone can subscribe, whether they’ve a WordPress.com account or not, if a blog has Blog Subscription widget. If a visitor is logged in to WordPress they need only press Subscribe Me! button, otherwise they can enter their email address. All subscriptions require confirmation by address owner, and subscriptions can be disabled at any time – subscriber's in full control of what they receive. HTML formatting’ll be used in emails, where possible, to retain the flavor of your post. Subscribers can also choose to receive emails in plain text, should they not have access to an HTML enabled mail client.
