According Net Applications, Windows 7's share of overall PC market continues to rise at a steady clip, having passed 4% by Nov. 9. At this rate, Windows 7's rate of adoption is outpacing that of Windows Vista, which took months to reach same numbers. The data shows Windows 7 as breaking that 4% barrier between Nov. 6 and 7. This follows earlier report showing that Windows 7 had passed 3% market share by Nov. 1, a gain of 84% since operating system's Oct. 22 release. Vista, by comparison, reached 4% in June 2007, six months after its general release to consumers in January 2007. Net Applications suggests that various Windows operating systems currently hold about 92.52% of OS market, compared with 5.27% for Mac and 0.96% for Linux.
