Marissa Mayer, 34-year-old megamillionaire, Oscar de la Renta–obsessed, computer-programming Google VP, search and user experience, who lives in a penthouse atop the Four Seasons, San Francisco, was recently profiled in a Vogue Magazine article that offered a in-depth glimpse into the exec’s lifestyle, loves, career and fashion preferences. Now, Mayer has been named as one of Glamour Magazine’s 2009 Women of the Year. Joining Mayer on the list are a variety of female powerhouses and icons including Maya Angelou, First Lady Michelle Obama, Susan Rice, Euna Lee and Laura Ling. “It’s pretty hard to overstate her impact,” says Eric Schmidt. “She built the team that designs products we all use.” With a wardrobe that’s strong on Oscar de la Renta and Armani, Mayer cuts a striking figure on the company campus. “When people think about computer science, they imagine people with pocket protectors and thick glasses who code all night,” Mayer jokes. “I do code all night! I am the stereotype, but I also break the stereotype.”
