This Media Feature Pack for Windows 7 N and Windows 7 KN will install Media Player and related technologies on a computer running Windows 7 N or Windows 7 KN edition. Windows 7 N and Windows 7 KN editions include same functionality as Windows 7, except that these versions of Windows don’t include Windows Media Player, and related technologies. End-user customers can enable media functionality to work properly by installing Windows Media Feature Pack for Windows 7 N and Windows 7 KN (KB968211).

...also quite useful is you want to run the WEI on Windows 7 "N"/"KN", as the benchmark will not function without the Windows Media Foundation.

Microsoft messed up on this one because Windows 7 (even moreso than Windows VIsta) uses your WEI score to tune the Windows subsystems dramatically.

Without being able to run WEI, your system will simply never perform as well as it could. This update fixes that as well.

Run the WEI after installing/rebooting from this update.
