In its report, "Dataquest Insight: PC Vendors' Move Into the Smartphone Market is Not Challenge Free," Gartner says that smartphones currently account 14% of overall mobile device sales, and’ll make up around 37% of global handset sales by 2012. By then, smartphone revenue’ll reach $191 million, higher than $152 million that’ll be gained from mobile PC sales. As a result, smartphone market is becoming one that "PC vendors feel they cannot afford to ignore."All major PC vendors will’ve their presence in smartphone market by end of this year, says Roberta Cozza. Gartner lists five main challenges PC vendors’ll face when entering smartphone market.
