Windows Live ID team wrote about their findings from the OpenID CTP, that’s been running since PDC last November. “The Production release of Windows Live ID's OpenID Provider support’ll look significantly different from the CTP version, so we’re in the process of closing the OpenID CTP endpoints to avoid any confusion. We explored what works and what doesn’t work with the cornerstone of the Open Web, Open ID, for services with a large user base such as Windows Live which has 500+ million Windows Live ID users! worldwide. A major characteristic of our OpenID Provider (OP) CTP was the attempt to use an account alias as both a “vanity URL” as well as a defense mechanism to help protect against phishing attacks.”
