Google posted a quick cheatsheet for how to determine what might be interfering with the normal operation of your iGoogle social gadget, and what to do about each of them. Here’s a quick list of what to do: “user is in a domain without canvas view; user is in a domain where OpenSocial is not available; user is not signed in; user has not enabled the gadget's social access; user hasn't added any friends”. To see an example of how to detect these and other conditions in a live gadget, check out the newly updated Testing iGoogle State gadget.
