You can now embedd a Google Map with a custom placemark while editing a page (Edit page -> "Insert" -> "Map") in Google Sites. When creating the map you can search for locations as you do on Maps using addresses, names, terms, or coordinates. More complex maps can be built in Google Maps and included by simply pasting the "link" to the map into the insert dialog. This also works for maps built using "My Maps."

In a releated new, sometimes you want to see the results for multiple searches in Google Maps or you want to quickly switch to a recent query. Now Google Maps displays at the bottom of the page a list of recent searches and each layer of search results can be enabled independently. Google Maps uses different colors for the markers so you can differentiate the results.
